I had originally planned on using the mini-jack connection into my MacbookPro for audio out and line in. Preliminary reaction is that the design (on your head) takes time to get used to, but the sound is pretty good. So I'm back to using the USB connection instead, which I hadn't planned on. Just got this headset as a replacement for an older Logitech that went south. I'll need time to test it out. However (and this is my fault for not knowing) using a mike with the Mac's line in requires a device with its own power.
Now keep in mind, I am not hard of my headsets. I paid store price for both pairs and wish I would have spent that $120 plus tax elsewhere. The first set the plastic sound control on the cord broke exposing the electronics and leaving me unable to adjust the volume. They also have really good sound quality. I would definitely save your money for a better constructed headset.
For my head size they are very comfortable and fit snugly on my ears, which I love. Unfortunately I'm not one to keep receipts as there is supposedly a 2 years manufacturers warranty, which you will probably need to take advantage of. When they are not in use, they are stored safely on my desk. I see here on they are selling for $40, wish I would have known. I've owned two pairs of these head phones.
However, both pairs that I've had have broken within 6 months of purchase. The second pair, the right earpiece has broken leaving it to flop around at the end of its stick.
I was surprised with its comfort and how easy it is to use. You can rely on there products. Though I wish this item was wireless. I have always been a fan of Logitech products.
This set has both, which virtually guarantees that they will always work, even if my computer is not working properly. Having two ways to plug the set in was a strong part of that functionality, since I have had some problems with the basic sound/mic jacks not working and then needing a USB hookup. I won't travel without it. I needed a headset and microphone for travel out of the country to use for Skype calls. Size and weight were a strong consideration, as was functionality. Anyway, this set meets my needs perfectly and the quality is very good.
It took me a week to figure out that the strap needed to be horizontal rather than pointing down towards your neck. Pros: good microphoneCons: a little heavy, a little uncomfortable, speaker quality is nothing to write home aboutI've just purchased a Zalman mic and will use it with my beloved Sennheiser PX100's. I've been using this headset for a couple of months. When I got that figured out, they were much more comfortable, but they are still a bit heavy and hurt over the ears after less than an hour of gaming.
